Granada

Very pretty town - I like this place a lot! Yesterday we took a boat ride around Las Isletas, a group of about 365 islands inside of Lake Nicaragua. Our tour guide was definitely the best. We had speakers on our boat playing everything from rap, to local Spanish music, to Bob Marley. Our guide had also somehow made friends with a spider monkey on one of the islands - he calls her Lucy - and she jumped in our boat to eat the treats we brought for her and pose for pictures. So fun! Tried to upload some photos but it isn´t working with the computers available, so you´ll have to use your imaginations for now.

In the late afternoon we went into the Granada Cathedral and climbed the bell tower for an awesome view. While we were up there someone came and rang the bells (OUCH) and then we noticed a parade on the streets below. They went around the square and ended up in the Cathedral... ended up being a Nativity show with kids dressed up as Joseph, Mary, wise men, etc., along with lots of balloons and noisemakers. Oh yes, and fireworks. LOTS of fireworks - just the ´bang´blackcat kind. Apparently in celebration of Christmas/New Years... people set them off all the time during all hours of day or night. Takes some getting used to!

Going to try and catch a baseball game this afternoon (Marty is a fan) - should be fun to see how they compare to Rockies games. Do they do a 7th inning stretch with peanuts, too? Stay tuned...
