Looking for the elusive volcano hummingbird. We saw a couple, but I'm not sure if they were the exact ones the guide was looking for. He tried to keep us quiet, but it turns out that 45 Americans aren't very good at that...
"poor man's umbrella" I don't remember the real name of it

On top of the volcano, about 10,000-ish feet. Felt like CO altitude again
Sulfur pool in an old crater of the volcano. I can't remember the last time it was active, but it definitely wasn't yesterday
Pretty cool view
Farms up the entire side of the volcano. The soil is apparently very fertile here. Lots of potatoes, onions and other assorted things. Mostly planted/harvested with people and animal power, not tractors. Too expensive for the farmers
Every day is laundry day in Costa Rica, it seems. Seriously.
Looking down at Cartago, the old Spanish colonial capital city. It was destroyed by two earthquakes in 1910 and was not rebuilt in a colonial style. Therefore, it looks like this.
The basilica in Cartago. One was being constructed in a different location when a vision of Mary appeared in a statue to an Indigenous woman. An earthquake halted the construction of the previous basilica and this one was constructed in the place where the Mary statue was found. The remains of the other one are still on the other side of town.
Inside the basilica - wow.
On top of the volcano, about 10,000-ish feet. Felt like CO altitude again
